In our master degree in forestry at the course “Remote Sensing Laboratory” we introduce basics of optical, microwave and LiDAR earth observation technics for producing useful information to support forest management and inventory.

Activities are carried out in the framework of the Copernicus Academy.

Our method is based on a first course of Forest Inventory (first year of the master degree) where the students learn basics of design and model inferential statistics. They also acquire data in the field with a real forest inventory project. After the summer break they start to elaborate the data.

Small groups of motivated students are introduced to several tools and procedures in different environments. Including coding in R.
